Discontinuing paid content December 1, 2017

Over the past few years we’ve released a number of new programs, like Super Chat and YouTube Red, to give creators more ways to monetize their content. We recently announced that we’ll be opening up Sponsorships to more YouTube gaming creators, which lets their fans support them directly with monthly payments. It’s important to focus our resources on improving these programs, so we’ve decided to deprecate paid channel subscriptions and paid content offerings.
Here's what you can expect as we discontinue paid content on YouTube:

• On September 19, 2017, you will no longer be able to create new paid content on YouTube, and new viewers will no longer be able to pay to subscribe to creator content. All your existing paid channels or videos will continue to show until December 1, 2017.
• On November 1, 2017, viewers will stop being charged for any existing subscriptions. We'll let all current subscribers know via email one month before paid channels are turned off.
• On December 1, 2017, all paid content will automatically be made private. You have full control over keeping these videos private or making them public (as free videos to watch). Individual videos purchased (not rented) by viewers should not be removed so that users will be able to access their purchases until December 1, 2022 per purchase terms.

These changes do not apply to YouTube Red Originals, Google Play Movies/TV, or Live PPV.
